Depends highly on what your workflow is. Sketchbook Pro is great for doing a quick render or sketch, the setup is nice for getting stuff done real quick. I like the fact that the tools are so intuitive, I can get a lot done in not a huge amount of time.Photoshop is better for more involved sketch and photo render work, mainly due to the fact that you have both raster and vector capabilities-photoshop's paths and masks are markedly effective for building rendered layers off of a photo.Depends on how much detail you're planning on getting into mostly, and how much time you want to invest in learning how to navigate the software. SBP is remarkably effective for sketching/painting stuff.Photoshop is much more technical but also quite a bit more powerful in terms of what you can accomplish. Based on your descriptive experience with both Sketch book pro and Photoshop, I decided to purchase the program (sketch book pro). Despite the fact the program is affordable, It took me less then 24hrs to fully learn the program, and with my wacom tablet, I am able to create sketches in a fraction of the time it would have taken me to sketch on paper and scan into Photoshop to paint.

Yep, No more paper drawings for me, I’ve gone GREEN!Thanks you for helping me understand the benefits of using SBP. Sketchbook pro is pretty cool, has a very nice rubber, very nice and soft brushes, fast and intuitive to use.But until it has decent selection tools, marquees, etc, i will never use it. That a killer for me.Anti-aliasing is just too horrible to use. That needs some serious fixing. Adding some feather option to selection tools is needed too. Or it will never be a fit replacement for photoshop for painting.I hate to have to paint in a photography program such as photoshop. Waiting for sketchbook pro to get more robust.Untill then i ll never change, because it s a worse program. With some intelligence behind the developers, it can easily be a photoshop killer for digital painting.

I will chose it for sure. So please, fix the. thing professionally please.

BiographyGeorge Fitzmaurice, Ph.D. Is a Director of Research and runs the for Autodesk. He has been with Autodesk (including Alias) for over 15 years conducting research in 2D and 3D UIs including: input devices, large displays, two-handed interaction, multi-touch, pen-based UIs, TrackingMenus, spatially-aware displays, 3D navigation and tangible UIs. In the HCI community he established the field of Graspable UIs which is the pre-cursor to what is known as Tangible UIs. Currently, he is leading research projects on Advanced Learning Technologies for feature-rich software applications.Working with his colleagues he has helped to author over 60 HCI papers and over 30 patents. Notable product contributions include Maya 1.0 UI, SketchBook Pro UI design, ShowMotion™ for Showcase, the 3D Navigation tools (ViewCube™ and SteeringWheels™) and Chronicle for Autodesk products.
